Aaaaaaaand we have cabinets–Part deux

Several weeks ago I very excitedly shared with you the installation of my new kitchen cabinets (read post here).  Since then I have had many people ask me why there have been no updates, photos etc.  I would like to tell you it is because I have had magazine stagers in photographing the room for a magazine layout but, in truth, it is because my wonderful (sad face) contractor took nearly five weeks to install said cabinets.  Don’t ask why…it isn’t pretty.  But they are in now and we have actually filled some of them with our dishes…those that are unpacked anyway.

Some people like open cabinetry, others shy away from it afraid it will showcase their messiness.  I must say that the kitchen cabinets are probably the neatest area of most people’s homes because everything stacks up so nicely.  But even the messiness is ok since the kitchen is a room that functions and you all know what I say, “Function first”.  What do you think about open cabinetry?

Join me on this blog as my husband and I enter our empty nest years and move back into the first home we bought when we were first married that has been a rental for the past 15 years. I will share our experience with remodeling as well as other ideas and thoughts that I hope will inspire you.

  2. Yay for new cabinets! Yes, I love open or glass front cabinets. I think it is so pretty to see lovely dishes! You can just keep a few closed cabinets for the not-so-pretty stuff 😉

Thank you for visiting my blog Dee at the Carlton & yes, I can see what you mean – us older ladies at empty nest cross roads deciding what direction this is going to take.

I love some open cupboards in the kitchen – what use is beautiful glassware if no one gets to see & appreciate it! You have some very pretty coloured glasses in the top photo – beautiful. I certainly will be stopping by to visit your blog regularly!

Oh can’t wait to see the entire kitchen. Sad that it took so long, but now you get the fun of putting it all together. Thanks for commenting on my post today. Not exactly sure where the changes are going to take me, but it’s time. Have a great week!
