Is this progress?

Many people have asked us how the progress of the remodel is going and I am always stumped for an answer.  Progress?  What’s that?

The before of our dining room looking into the kitchen was bad enough with its mirrored wall, outdated parquet flooring and striped wallpaper.

But just look at it now!  Is this what they call progress?  The good news…the wall is open and we have lighting in the ceiling….the bad news..the old glue from the parquet floor crunches under our feet every time we walk through the room, we have no cabinets, appliances, countertops or new flooring.  I never thought I would long for that ugly old room but it is looking pretty good right now.  However, I am assured by our contractor that this is just a waiting period and in the next couple of weeks it will all come together.  What do you think?  Should I believe him?

What about me? In a nutshell I am a middle-aged interior designer and freelance writer, mother of an amazing 27 year old daughter, wife to my semi-retired lawyer husband and step-grandma to two delicious babies. From my earliest memories I have been fascinated with interior decorating and love to share my passion for beautiful rooms with anyone who will listen. Join me on this blog as my husband and I enter our empty nest years and move back into the first home we bought when we were first married that has been a rental for the past 15 years. I will share our experience with remodeling as well as other ideas and thoughts that I hope will inspire you.
